Kalush petrochemical workers increased oxygen production for Precarpathian hospitals
As it has already been reported in local mass media, due to coronavirus infection spreading and arising of serious problems in Ukraine with medical oxygen provision for hospitals, Management of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» Ltd. decided to supply this product to medical institutions.
And in spite of the fact that oxygen, which was constantly produced at Air separation unit, corresponded to necessary norms by indicators, for its use, like medical agent, the enterprise had to fulfil certain organisation-legal requirements. And namely: respective license receive, product registration as medical agent, etc.
In November all these required procedures were completed and the enterprise started to provide Precarpathian hospitals with the aforementioned medical agent.
– If in December from «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» to Kalush Central Hospital was delivered 30 tons of medical oxygen and almost the same amount to Kolomyya and Gorodenka hospitals, in January, February and March its amount was significantly larger, – tells Switlana Bazyliv, sales department leading specialist of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» Ltd. – In January, for instance, with support of Charitable Fund «Pokyttya» was delivered to regional hospitals nearly 100 tons of medical oxygen. Even more – almost 250 tons of this product we were able to deliver in February. There are also all preconditions for securing of stable oxygen delivery in March.
We asked Mykhaylo Kyzymyshyn, chief of Air separation unit, how they managed to increase substantially medical oxygen output, and he informed as follows:
«Considering the increasing requirement in medical oxygen, by Management of the enterprise were inserted amendments in production program of Air separation unit. And particularly was decreased to minimum the output of liquefied nitrogen, as far as the existing stock of that product permits us to do this at the time being. And this action in its turn favoured the output increase of liquefied medical oxygen. Because of this reason we also temporarily suspended the argon output.
I also would like to inform you that workers of repair sector of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» take direct participation in mounting of two new oxygen units with capacity of two thousand and three thousand litres, which have been recently purchased for state costs to satisfy requirements of Kalush Central Hospital and Kalush local hospitals, and all activities for their connection to networks and putting into operation are made by specialists of our unit.
This job is not new for us, because, as per previous information, three months ago «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» purchased on charitable basis a similar oxygen unit with capacity of three thousand liters of liquid oxygen for requirements of hospital in Pidgirky, and specialists of repair sector and specialists of our unit mounted it and put into operation.
It was not easy to take information from Mykola Dmyterchuk, General Director Deputy about a current situation with medical oxygen provision of ill people of «Kalush Central Regional Hospital», because currently he, as well as the whole personal of the hospital, have too much concerns and troubles.
– We have enough oxygen, – tells Mykola Dmyterchuk. – «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» stably provides us with this agent. But at present we have another problem. Sometimes it’s necessary to supply oxygen to 204 patients that badly need it. There are some situations, when it’s not enough pressure for oxygen supply. We really hope and expect that this problem will be finally solved due to one more oxygen unit, which some days ago was delivered to the hospital. Now we have a chance to operate this new unit simultaneously with the one, which was purchased for us by «KARPATNAFTOCHIM». Specialists of this enterprise mounted and put into operation both the previous oxygen unit as well as the one, which has been recently delivered to us. For several days petrochemical workers are adjusting its operation and we are grateful to them for this great support.
