Petrochemical workers have received half-shells of electrolyzers, repaired in Germany

Last week from Germany to the enterprise «KARPANAFTOCHIM» was delivered the first lot of repaired half-shells of electrolyzers for membrane chlorine and caustic soda unit.

– We received 23 sets of anode and cathode half-shells, which had been earlier sent to specialized Company DE NORA for restoration of the worn active coating layer of these single electrolyzers’ elements, – says the senior foreman (technologist) of the division Іgor Tkach. – There at the modern equipment and with the observance of the corresponding technology the complete recoating of the electrodes was carried out. But in order to be sure in the reliability of the repaired halves, now we are checking each by dye-penetration method. This procedure is made directly by the inspector for non-destructive control of technical supervision department Andrei Shpariy.According to Igor Petrovych information 22 sets of anode and cathode half-shells, which were repaired at German Company, should be delivered next week. They will undergo a similar verification procedure.        All anode and cathode half-shells with a restored active coating layer and new membranes will be assembled and a total of 45 new single elements will be installed in one membrane cell in place of the dismantled old ones, where half-shells have already served their 8-year warranty life, and the membranes have served their four-years warranty.            Replacing so many single elements in this membrane cell will significantly increase its productivity.
