From a plumber to a foreman – within three years

That’s exactly is the carrier progression of Vasyl Mariychyn– the equipment repair foreman of the ethylene and polyethylene facility of hydrocarbons output unit of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» Ltd.

We noticed him from afar. Athletic, with a pleasant smile, he   immediately inspires trust and confidence, that such people and specialists will never let you down.

– I have been working at the enterprise since the year 2017 – tells Vasyl. – I started here as a plumber. Before this position I used to work as a master in one of the local «Housing and Public Services». But definitely the job at «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» is more perspective and, besides of that, the salaries are higher here; and surely this plays a great role.

And a good chance for carrier progression also exists here. I am working now as a foreman and I am engaged in the equipment adjustment of propylene oxide division of hydrocarbons output unit.

A young man continues to surprise us, saying that the items which are the hardest in his job are at the same time the most interesting:

«A certain time I worked as a repairman of an on duty team of the repair workshop. The job was more monotonous there. And now much attention should be paid to new equipment study, for documentation recording. Each type of equipment has its technical passport and I obtain information mostly from this document in order to know when it’s necessary to repair the equipment, to make technical surveys etc. While learning such data, it’s possible to find a lot of new nuances in operation of the equipment; and this is always interesting and exciting».

He accents on the fact that he feels the necessity to improve his professional skills, especially now while working at a new unit. This job really needs a constant self-perfection.

A foreman usually notices a lot of positive moments at the time of putting of a new production facility in operation.

– Certainly I cannot judge to which extent a new unit will be profitable, – sums up Vasyl Mariychyn. – This is the business of economists. But it is really great that at our plant new divisions are being opened and new projects are realized. This is also prospective for the community of Kalush, because new working places are created. It’s positive that Company takes care for the development, providing the chance for inhabitants of our town and districts to have a good job…

It was not so simple to persuade Vasyl for photo-shoot on the background of buildings of his production facility. He was joking firstly but finally agreed, mentioning that it will be pleasant for his wife and his two sons to see how he looks like at the plant.
