Kalush petrochemical workers are mounting oxygen station for municipal hospital
In March 11, Natalia Kinash, Deputy of city’s Mayer, informed in social network Facebook, that at Kalush Central Regional Hospital was started in operation a new oxygen station with gasifier capacity two thousand litres. It gave a chance to stabilize oxygen supply to 180 points in Covid divisions and in intensive care wards of other hospital’s divisions.
Natalia Kinash also reported that at the same day was held the operating meeting with representatives of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» Ltd, and was discussed the issue concerning the completion of oxygen unit starting activities for hospital in Pidgirky and the begin of a new oxygen unit mounting for requirements of Kalush municipal hospital, located at Karakaya street.
In conversation with Yarema Rudyk, General Director Deputy of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» I found out that these two oxygen stations were simultaneously delivered to Kalush under State Program and Management of the town and hospitals applied to the enterprise with a request of mounting these stations and putting into operation by specialists of the enterprise. And this responsible work was entrusted to our specialists because at the end of last year the enterprise purchased a new oxygen station with capacity more than three thousand litres for Kalush Regional Hospital and our petrochemical workers successfully mounted it and put in operation.
All required activities of station mounting were jointly made by workers of Repair sector and specialists of Air Separation Unit of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM», Ltd. At this Unit currently medical oxygen is produced and this oxygen is provided by enterprise gratis through Charitable Fund «Pokyttya» to regional hospitals.
– If to compare mounting activities fulfilment for two oxygen stations in Pidgirky hospital and in municipal hospital at Karakaya street, – tells a Chief of Repair sector Volodymyr Homenko, – they differ essentially. Near Kalush CRH long ago existed a specially equipped site, where from technical personnel of the hospital was supplying oxygen to its divisions, and in municipal hospital there is unfortunately not a similar site.
It was a reason that we could start the mounting of the unit only in March 16, when was prepared a foundation, and our suppliers purchased for the aforementioned activities nearly 100 meters of 25-millimeter of stainless steel, ball valves, metal items, etc. First of all we will make piping of oxygen unit, prepare supports for laying of pipes; after such jobs completion the specialists of Air Separation Unit will start their part of job and will put the unit in operation. I hope they could start the activities already this week.
For mounting activities we assigned two maintenance technicians and one welder that work under the guidance of Chief Deputy of ethylene and polyethylene facility Volodymyr Futerko.
With Chief Doctor of Kalush municipal hospital Mykola Gudym we met at the site of a future oxygen station. At this time workers of a private company were finishing activities near unit foundation, and petrochemical workers, whom we could distinguish by company overalls, were installing supports.
– In a current situation of sharp increase of COVID-19 diseases, – tells Mykola Grygorovych, – for us this station is like life buoy. From spring last year we supplied oxygen from bottles with volume 40 litres to the wards of Covid patients. And already today due to such patients increase, especially with hard course of disease, we need up to 50 such bottles before lunch and nearly 30 bottles in the evening in order to have oxygen till morning. At the time being at infection division, which is located in a separate building, and in therapeutic division are 107 ill people with confirmed diagnosis on COVID-19. Oxygen from bottles is supplied to them from two temporary points (ramps) and, unfortunately, at present there are delays with appropriate oxygen delivery.
That is why the transition of infection division for oxygen provision from a new oxygen station will help us very much in our job, and mainly will permit to have it constantly in wards for ill patients. It was known that «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» provides on charitable basis medical oxygen to medical institutions of town and region, and also that last year the enterprise purchased for Kalush CRH the oxygen station, as well as helps with personal protective equipment and disinfectors. But when the question arose-who will mount and connect a new oxygen station, it turned out that this could also be done by petrochemical specialists of the enterprise.
It was really important for us that the enterprise not only helps us in the commissioning of oxygen unit, but also, free of charge, provided all necessary equipment and materials, namely: metal pipes, shutoff valves, etc. It has also been confirmed by Yarema Rudyk, General Director Deputy, during meeting with me. Petrochemical workers are working constantly these days, and we are persuaded that they will timely and efficiently complete their tasks.
So, taking the opportunity I’d like to thank sincerely for help and support to the team of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM», its General Director Ivan Pidsadyuk and especially to these workers of the enterprise, who in spite of unfavourable weather conditions, are mounting the station, which without the overstatement, will give health and life to ill people of Kalush.
