Yarema Rudyk «We try to do everything possible to preserve the backbone of the team»
Though today KARPATNAFTOCHIM Company due to the introduction of martial law in the country has stopped its production activity and its main installations are in a state of forced downtime, it will continue to be decisive both for the town Kalush and for the economy of Precarpathian and Ukraine as a whole.
And we are talking about such significance of the enterprise with Yarema Rudyk, General Director Deputy on economy and finance.
«Regarding the importance of the enterprise in general for Ukraine is known that it is the only producer in Ukraine of such unique products as suspension polyvinylchloride, polyethylene that is, those types, which are very necessary for our state of Ukraine to rebuild its infrastructure and revive industrial production. The company reacted to the conditions of war and safely conserved the equipment. However, this forced shutdown did not affect the number of employees in the team, i.e. none of the employees was reduced and today they all are provided with salary», emphasized Yarema Bogdanovych. –Five years have passed since the time KARPATNAFTOCHIM resumed its production activity after almost the same period of downtime, so which is the share of the enterprise in terms of filling budgets of Kalush community and state in the whole?– If we look at the numbers, then from the middle of 2017 until September 2022, a total of payments in the amount of almost 1,8 billion UAH were made to the state, local budgets and extra-budgetary funds. And this despite the fact that in the first two years the company was forced to allocate significant funds, and namely nearly two billion hryvnia for renovation of units activity, their repair and update in order to be competitive on the market of products and provide consumers with them in full.
– What was memorable about the last year 2021 for the team?
– It really pleased us economically, despite the fact that we had to work in the conditions of a pandemic. We could say that the year 2021 was a record year for our company. For instance, in October for the first time was produced record 25894 tons of PVC-S. Important projects were implemented to improve the quality of products and energy efficiency of production.Company achieved considerable success in the markets of industrial production: at that time, we provided more than a quarter of the volume of sale of industrial products of Precarpathian; one hundred percent in the national production of polymers (PVC-S and PE). The enterprise was budget-generating for Kalush community – almost 30 percent of budget receipts – was taxes of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» Ltd.
– How war influenced on company’s activity? Which subdivisions are working at present and how does the team help to the Ukrainian Army?
– I want to underline that in spite of shutdown of main plants, the company has today fully functioning units that ensure the vital activity of the city and the enterprises of the industrial zone of Kalush. And namely- treatment installations that are situated at the unit of industrial waste waters neutralization and treatment, where domestic sewage from residential areas of Kalush also enter and air separation unit, where, as everyone already knows, the production of liquid medical oxygen was established in 2020, which we still provide today free of charge to medical institutions of Precarpathian and neighboring regions. In general we donated it to medical institutions of Kalush, region and Ukraine in the amount of more than 2.5 thousand tons.
We also continue to pay taxes to state and local budgets and mandatory payments to state funds in full.
Our company immediately responded to the needs of the Armed Forces, territorial defense, as well as state authorities regarding the provision of financial and material assistance in order to improve defense capabilities of Ukraine. Moreover, from the side of KARPATNAFTOCHIM own initiatives were displayed and implemented.In total for the help of our Armed Forces since the beginning of war the enterprise directed more than 50 million hryvnia.
I’d like to say that each employee of our enterprise individually supported our Ukrainian Army, transferring own money to the respective account.
It is also worth noting that many of our petrochemical workers are currently fighting the enemy, and are also serving in territorial defense divisions. And today we are doing everything possible to preserve the backbone of the team, which will be able to resume the work of our productions in time.
